A new PhD opportunity is available at the University of Edinburgh, exploring how the chemical composition of air pollution relates to unequal exposure and health inequalities across the UK. The project will combine high-resolution modelling with detailed measurements of outdoor and indoor air pollution to better understand how different communities are affected, particularly those living near traffic and industrial sources.
The research will equip the successful candidate with skills in atmospheric science, epidemiology, and data analysis, while contributing to wider work on environmental health and climate action. The student will also be part of the UKRI-funded INHABIT research hub, working across institutions to examine the health co-benefits of net zero, including indoor environments.
The deadline for applications is Monday 11 May 2026.
