WM-Net Zero Co-Lead Dr Suzanne Bartington contributed to UK100’s Breathing Life conference, a landmark event celebrating ten years of local leadership on clean air and bringing together more than 120 policymakers, researchers, local authority leaders and practitioners from across the UK.
Dr Bartington joined the conference’s public health panel, where she drew on the latest evidence to discuss the health benefits of clean air policies and the importance of embedding public health within local climate action. As Chair of UK100’s Clean Air Network, she also helped shape discussions on how local authorities can work collaboratively to deliver cleaner air and healthier communities.
The conference marked the launch of UK100’s new Breathing Life report, which highlights the impact of local clean air action and presents new evidence suggesting that regional interventions have already helped save almost 14,000 lives across the UK. The report has received widespread media coverage, including in Forbes, BusinessGreen, Air Quality News, Transport + Energy and Local Government Chronicle.
WM-Net Zero continues to work closely with UK100 to strengthen the evidence base linking climate mitigation, air quality and public health, helping local authorities develop policies that maximise health and wider societal benefits.
